Two Days of Aviation in the Hegau — Vintage Aircraft, Gliders, Model Aircraft, and Balloon Rides
The Segelfliegergruppe Singen-Hilzingen e.V. is one of the oldest aviation sports clubs in the Hegau and is celebrating its 75th club anniversary as well as 30 years of Piccolo-Piloten (the youth department) in the 2026 season. A dedicated summer festival for the anniversary was already held on June 20, 2026; the Airfield Days in September are the second major event of the year and are aimed at a broad audience.
A packed program of flight operations and demonstrations runs on both days. The focus is on the Fly-In: pilots from the entire Lake Constance region, Switzerland, and Southern Germany land their aircraft in Hilzingen and put them on display. The vintage aircraft are particularly worth seeing — historic machines rarely seen in regular flight operations. In parallel, model aircraft pilots showcase their skills with remote-controlled models — from small acrobatic planes to large, detailed replicas.
Anyone who wants to see the Hegau from the air can book glider or motor-powered scenic flights. In good weather, hot air balloons will also ascend with passengers. The Hegau is a landscape shaped by volcanic activity with characteristic conical mountains — the Hohentwiel, the Hohenhewen, the Hohenstoffeln — which are particularly impressive from the air. The children's program with a bouncy castle is located on the festival grounds, along with catering offering regional specialties.
Hilzingen is a municipality with just under 9,000 inhabitants in the district of Konstanz, state of Baden-Württemberg, southwest of Singen at the transition from Lake Constance to the Black Forest and Switzerland. The club airfield is located on the western outskirts of the town. You can reach Hilzingen by car via the B 314, and by train via Singen Hbf and bus 7395.
