About Bodypainting Festival

The Heringsdorfer Bodypainting Festival is one of the most extraordinary art festivals on the German Baltic Sea coast. World champions and internationally renowned painting artists transform their models live on the concert stage into unique fantasy figures. Competitions, a show program, family activities, and an art auction for the benefit of the Leuchtturm Greifswald children's hospice accompany the festival. In 2026, the event will be held under the motto »Rainbow Colors«.

Living Artworks on the Baltic Sea

The Heringsdorfer Bodypainting Festival stands out clearly from classic art festivals: Instead of a gallery or studio, the concert stage directly on the Heringsdorf beach promenade becomes the workshop. World champions and internationally recognized painting artists transform their models into living artworks – hours later, the finished works parade across the stage and onto the beach. The organizer is Kaiserbäder Insel Usedom; the festival takes place in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Competitions and Show Program

The multi-day program includes:

  • Live Painting: Bodypainting artists work simultaneously on several stages
  • Competitions: International jury, awards ceremony
  • Model Presentations: Show presentation of the completed works
  • Fairy Tale Show and circus activities for children
  • Live Music: Regional and national bands
  • Children's Face Painting: Hands-on activity for young visitors
  • Art Auction for the benefit of the Kinderhospiz Leuchtturm Greifswald e.V.

Family Festival with a Charity Aspect

Despite its artistic ambition, the festival explicitly sees itself as a family festival. Clown Malino, fairy tale shows, circus activities, and children's face painting provide entertainment beyond the main stage. The art auction for the benefit of the Leuchtturm children's hospice in Greifswald gives the festival a social dimension, combining art with regional commitment.

International Art Scene

Bodypainting has developed into an independent art form over the past decades, with world championships and international competitions. The Heringsdorfer Festival, in its 11th edition in 2026, has established itself as an important meeting point for the scene in Germany, regularly attracting top artists from several countries to the Baltic Sea. The municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf is located in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald.
