The Summer Festival of the Wendland District Town
The Stadtfest Lüchow is the annual summer highlight of the Wendland district town. Traditionally, it takes place on the 3rd Saturday in August — in 2026, this means Saturday, 22 August, with the kick-off on Friday evening, 21 August. The entire city centre is car-free.
Friday Evening — Musical Summer Evening
The festival begins on Friday, 21 August, from 7 PM with the Musical Summer Evening on Schlossplatz by the Amtsturm. Live bands will set the mood for the weekend, and the catering stands will serve visitors around the tower. A relaxed start to the main market and festival day on Saturday.
Saturday — Flea Market and 12-Hour Stage
Saturday is the main Stadtfest day. Programme 2026:
- From 11 AM: Flea market mile in Lange Straße with over 200 stalls
- On the Market Square: Stage with over 12 hours of programming — live bands, demonstrations, local clubs
- Entire City Centre: car-free, cafés and shops with extended opening hours
- Families: Children's carousels, activity stations, special stands
- Culinary Delights: Food stalls from sausages to food truck specialties

With its Amtsturm, Lange Straße, and historic market square, the town has a clearly structured centre that is ideal for a car-free city festival.
