Augsburger swa-Straßenlauf

A Spring Classic in Bavarian Swabia

The Augsburger swa-Straßenlauf is a staple in the running calendar of the state of Bavaria. It is organized by the Running & Triathlon department of TG Viktoria Augsburg, one of the oldest sports clubs in the Swabian district capital. The namesake and main sponsor is the Augsburg municipal utility company (swa). The start and finish are located at the Sportanlage Süd in the city of Augsburg.

The Course Through the Siebentischwald

The heart of the event is the circuit through the Siebentischwald, an extensive nature reserve on the southern outskirts of the city. The course is 100 percent asphalted, runs entirely through the forest or park, is wind-protected, and absolutely flat and fast. The half-marathon course is measured according to the guidelines of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and is eligible for record lists, which is why the run is popular among ambitious runners as a course for personal bests.

Competitions

• Half Marathon (21.1 km) – the challenging main race with a participant limit
• Hobby Run (approx. 6.7 km) – the shorter competition for recreational runners and beginners
• Youth competitions with reduced entry fees

Along the course, refreshment stations with water, tea, isotonic drinks, and bananas provide participants with sustenance.

Tradition and Significance

With its 40th edition in 2026, the swa-Straßenlauf looks back on a long history. Over the years, numerous personal bests and course records have been set on the fast forest course. The family-friendly organization by the club, the natural setting in the Siebentischwald, and the flat course make the run a fixed date for the Augsburg running scene and guests from the surrounding Swabian region.
