Whitsun at the Animal Enclosure — An Unusual Combination

Whitsun Fair (Pfingstkirmes) on the meadow, and next to it an animal enclosure with 150 animals of 26 species — a combination rarely found in Germany, making the Zeulenroda-Triebes event special. The 'Rabensleite' Animal Enclosure is located on the northern edge of Zeulenroda-Triebes, right next to the Waldstadion. Over Whitsun, the area transforms into a fairground backdrop: carousels, food stalls, bouncy castles, and family activities meet wild boar, fallow deer, red deer, goats, and birds in their enclosures.

Three Days of Family Entertainment — Daily 12 PM to 6 PM

The concept is explicitly aimed at families with children. The opening hours of 12 PM to 6 PM — Saturday to Monday, covering the entire Whitsun holiday — are family-friendly. Those coming with small children can combine a visit to the animal enclosure (separate admission) with the fair. Amusement rides, food offerings, and catering by the adjacent Waldcafé Nüsschen complete the experience.

Zeulenroda-Triebes — Town in the Southern Vogtland

Zeulenroda-Triebes is a town of around 16,000 inhabitants in the Greiz district, in the far east of Thuringia, on the border with the Saxon Vogtland. The town has a strong tradition in the furniture industry (Möbel Zeulenroda) and, at the same time, an astonishingly diverse event calendar — from the Culture Night (June) and the Whitsun Fair to town festivals and markets. The Rabensleite Animal Enclosure is an established excursion destination for families from the entire Vogtland region.

In Germany, Whitsun is traditionally a time for folk festivals (Volksfeste), fair celebrations (Kirmes), and traditional events.
