One Night, Over 20 Venues, One City Center

The Zeulenrodaer Kulturnacht is the flagship event of the small town of Zeulenroda-Triebes in southern Thuringia. From a simple concept — all cultural institutions, shops, and restaurateurs in a town open their doors simultaneously on one evening — the city has created a brand. Over 20 venues are spread across the historic city center. A single stroll leads through a variety of arts and styles, ensuring no one has to miss out on anything.

Musical Diversity — From Irish Folk to Latin

The musical profile is intentionally broad: Irish Folk in a pub setting, Jazz in a café, Latin American rhythms in a square, Rock in the library, street music along the pedestrian zone. The mix aims to appeal to all generations — young families will find programs for children, adults can meet friends in cafés, and older generations can enjoy classical pieces in the churches. The city of Zeulenroda-Triebes explicitly sees its Kulturnacht as a format for encounters: city marketing and a social meeting point at the same time.

Special Places — Doors That Usually Remain Closed

One of the most compelling attractions of the Kulturnacht: visitors get access to places that are usually closed. A classic example is the bell tower of the Dreieinigkeitskirche — it opens for climbing during the Kulturnacht, offering a view over the city at sunset. Shops often present special exhibitions, small courtyards open for pop-up concerts, and restaurants extend their outdoor seating areas. Zeulenroda reveals a different side of itself on this night.

Zeulenroda-Triebes — The Small Town in the Southern Vogtland

Zeulenroda-Triebes is located in the Greiz district in the far east of Thuringia. The town, with around 16,000 inhabitants, combines the Vogtland low mountain range, a tradition of commercial small and medium-sized enterprises (furniture industry), and a vibrant city life. The Kulturnacht has been an important date in the city calendar since its first edition in 2014 — proof that a small town can establish its own cultural event with dedication.
