Three-day town festival for the 20th anniversary of the merger in Jute Park Triebes
On February 1, 2006, the two East Thuringian towns of Zeulenroda and Triebes were merged into Zeulenroda-Triebes as part of a municipal reform. Both places retained their own districts and part of their identity — today, the twin city with around 17,000 inhabitants is one of the most important towns in the Greiz district.
The 2026 town festival uses the 20th anniversary of the merger for a special staging. It takes place in the Jute Park in Triebes — a former industrial site of the jute spinning and weaving mill, which is now an event park. The 2026 town festival is deliberately moving to Triebes (in previous years, the locations alternated between the two districts) — as a gesture of equal partnership.
A programmatic special feature: Associations from Triebes have priority for stall spaces. The anniversary is thus used as an opportunity to give the smaller district more visibility. Triebes — once an independent industrial town with textile companies and the jute mill — is to be the focus in its 20th anniversary year.
The format of the town festival is classic: Opening on Friday, main festival day on Saturday with a large stage program and dance evening, family day on Sunday with a morning pint. Regional bands and national acts alternate on the main stage — the final lineup will be announced in spring 2026.
In the Jute Park, associations from Triebes present their activities — from the fire department and sports clubs to heritage associations and the "Kultur in Triebes" initiative. Gastronomic stands offer East Thuringian specialties — sausages, dumplings, beer. The anniversary program frames the twenty-year shared history of the twin city with historical images, memories from former mayors, and festive ceremonies.

The Jute Park itself is a worthwhile destination — the old jute mill is an interesting example of post-industrial reuse.
