Large downtown festival on the last weekend of August with several stages, a flea market, and a show program
When the stages are set up and the club stands are lined up in Weingarten on the last weekend of August, it's clear: the Oberschwaben summer is heading for its finish line. The Weingarten City Festival is one of the most traditional downtown festivals in the region and attracts thousands of visitors every year from Weingarten, Ravensburg, and the entire region between Lake Constance and the Allgäu. In 2026, the festival will take place on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30.
The Weingarten City Festival is a classic club festival — supported by local clubs, organized by the City Festival Committee under the umbrella of Weingarten.IN Stadtmarketing and the city administration. Over 40 Weingarten clubs — sports clubs, traditional costume groups, music clubs, carnival guilds, marksmen, heritage associations — provide catering at stands in the city center, present their activities, and finance a significant part of their club work with the proceeds. Anyone who drinks a beer or eats Maultaschen at the city festival directly supports Weingarten's club life.
Stages will be set up at various locations in the city center — on Münsterplatz (main stage), in Burachstraße, at the Marktplatz, and in the Stadtgarten. Pop and rock cover bands alternate with traditional music, dance presentations by local dance schools, performances by music clubs, and children's show programs. The program is deliberately broad to appeal to all age groups.
A large city festival flea market runs through the city center on both days — private stall registrations, supplemented by stalls from individual clubs selling club inventory, books, vinyl, and collectibles. On Saturday, the children's flea market also opens in the Stadtgarten — children sell toys, children's clothing, books, and plush toys, often with parental support. A charming opportunity to give the youngsters their first selling experience.
At the club stands, you'll find a wide range: classics like Bratwurst, fries, steaks, Maultaschen, and pretzels, plus Oberschwaben specialties like Käsknöpfle, Schupfnudeln, and Spätzle, regional lamb skewers, and international specialties from clubs with migration backgrounds (Turkish Lokma, Italian Pizza, Asian Spring Rolls). Beer, wine, apple spritzer, soft drinks, and cocktails at mobile bars.
Weingarten is located in the Ravensburg district in Oberschwaben — right at the transition from the Schussental valley to the pre-Alpine landscape. The city is known for the monumental Welfen Basilica St. Martin (one of the largest Baroque churches in Southern Germany), the Welfentag (spring), and the traditional Heilig-Blut-Ritt (Holy Blood Procession) on the day after Ascension Day. With the Weingarten University of Education and companies like ifm electronic, the city is economically well-positioned. The city festival fits into the series of traditional Weingarten major events and forms the summer finale before the Schussental Erntedank (Harvest Thanksgiving) season.
Over 40 Weingarten clubs provide catering at stands in the city center.
