Weingarten City Festival — edition 2026
Golden Anniversary in the Welfenstadt
On Saturday, August 29th, and Sunday, August 30th, 2026, Weingarten celebrates its 50th anniversary City Festival. The city centre transforms into a festival mile with catering stands from Weingarten's clubs, several live music stages, and a colourful supporting programme around the anniversary. A special highlight: the anniversary rally through the city centre with stations and tasks — participants can enter a final prize draw with prizes from Weingarten's local retailers.
The Happy Hour on Sunday from 4 PM is a tradition of Weingarten's City Festivals — one hour of reduced drink prices, creating a special atmosphere in the late afternoon. Live music on several stages ranges from cover bands and folk music to young local acts from nearby universities.

50 Years of City Festival in the Welfenstadt
On Saturday, August 29th, and Sunday, August 30th, 2026, Weingarten in Upper Swabia celebrates its 50th anniversary City Festival. A golden anniversary for a festival that has marked the end of summer events in the Upper Swabian Welfenstadt since the 1970s. Two days of festivities in the city centre, where Weingarten's clubs set up their catering stands and the entire town transforms into a festival mile.
Highlights of the Anniversary Festival
For its 50th anniversary, the city and the clubs have conceived an expanded programme. In addition to classic catering at the club stands, there will be an anniversary rally through the city centre with stations and tasks, culminating in a prize draw with prizes from Weingarten's local retailers. Live music will be playing on several stages — from cover bands and folk music to young local acts. On Sunday from 4 PM, there will be a "Happy Hour" with reduced drink prices — a tradition that has been firmly anchored in Weingarten's City Festival calendar for years.
The Club Scene of Weingarten
The City Festival thrives on Weingarten's clubs: music clubs, sports clubs, church communities, student organisations from the nearby university and the Weingarten University of Education, as well as youth groups. Each club runs a stand with its own specialty — traditional dishes (Maultaschen, Spätzle, Käsknöpfle), international cuisine (Kebab, Pizza, Crêpes), cake buffets, cocktail bars. The proceeds finance a significant part of the clubs' volunteer work.
Weingarten — Welfenstadt with a Pilgrimage Basilica
Weingarten, with around 24,000 inhabitants, is a town in the Ravensburg district, located north of Ravensburg in Upper Swabia. It is known primarily for the Welfen Basilica of St. Martin — one of Germany's largest Baroque basilicas, built in the 18th century on the site of a former Welf family monastery — and for the annual "Blutritt" (a major equestrian procession) on the Friday after Ascension Day, one of Europe's largest mounted processions. The nearby Weingarten University of Education and the Ravensburg-Weingarten University give the town a student character, which is reflected in the City Festival.
