Ascension Day at the winery — homemade specialties and Kraichgau wines in Östringen-Odenheim
On Thursday, May 14, 2026 — Ascension Day and Father's Day —, the traditional Obst-, Wein- und Gartenbauverein 1919 Odenheim e.V. organizes its annual wine festival on Ascension Day. The venue is the Weingut Adrian Zimmer at Nibelungenstraße 17 in Odenheim — a district of the northern Baden town of Östringen in the southern Karlsruhe district.
The festival combines an authentic Kraichgau winery atmosphere with local club culture:
Weingut Adrian Zimmer is a young, ambitious family winery in Odenheim. Adrian Zimmer represents a modern interpretation of the northern Baden wine tradition — focusing on Burgundy grape varieties (Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Weißburgunder), Riesling, and regional identity. The inner courtyard of the winery on Nibelungenstraße provides the ideal festive backdrop: rustic, authentic, with a direct connection to the wine produced.
The organizer, the Obst-, Wein- und Gartenbauverein 1919 Odenheim, is one of the oldest clubs in the town. Founded in 1919, it is dedicated to the preservation of regional mixed orchards, viticulture, and garden culture. The annual wine festival on Ascension Day, along with the Harvest Festival (Erntedankfest) and the Must Tasting (Mostprobe), is one of the most important club events.
Odenheim, with around 3,500 inhabitants, is a district of the town of Östringen in the southern Karlsruhe district. Odenheim is known for its Monastery Church of St. Michael — one of the few surviving Benedictine monastery churches in the northern Black Forest — as well as for its wine and fruit cultivation. The town of Östringen is located in the Kraichgau region between Bruchsal, Sinsheim, and Bad Schönborn — a typical hilly landscape with mixed orchards, vineyards, and small villages.
Ascension Day and Father's Day have a special tradition in southern Germany: groups of men, families, and clubs go on outings with handcarts, bicycle tours, or hikes through the early summer landscape — wine festivals like the Ascension Day Wine Festival in Odenheim are classic stops. The combination of an open winery courtyard, Father's Day conviviality, and Kraichgau wine makes this event attractive for guests from Östringen, Bruchsal, Bad Schönborn, and the wider region.

Homemade Father's Day cuisine from the club's kitchen, Flammkuchen from the wood-fired oven, grilled skewers, and sweet specialties from Glückszeit Coffee form the culinary offerings. The focus is on the wine bar — vintages from Weingut Adrian Zimmer and other Kraichgau winemakers.
