Traditional fair in the wine-growing community of Malsch — Hauptstraße as festival mile
The Mälscher Markt is the traditional fair of the municipality of Malsch in the northern Kraichgau (Rhein-Neckar district, not to be confused with the similarly named Malsch in the Karlsruhe district). In 2026, the market will run from Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14, 2026. The organizer is the Municipality of Malsch.
The festival grounds extend along Hauptstraße Malsch — the central axis of the community, which transforms into a festival mile for three days with market stalls, small amusement rides, catering booths, and sales outlets. Local clubs provide the catering with culinary specialties — from Swabian-Baden home cooking to bratwurst and fries, crêpes, and pizza specialties.
Malsch is a traditional wine-growing community in the northern Kraichgau — the hills around Malsch have been used for viticulture for centuries. At the Mälscher Markt, wines from local vintners are served: Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Burgunder varieties (white, grey, and Pinot Noir), Kerner, and Lemberger from the Kraichgau vineyards. A dedicated wine booth or wine stand is a usual part of the market offerings.
The market offers traditional fair components: stalls selling household goods, clothing, toys, regional products, sweets, and snacks. Smaller amusement rides (carousels, shooting galleries) provide family entertainment. Live music from local clubs — brass bands, cover bands — creates a festive atmosphere on at least one evening. Specific program details will be published by the municipality before the event.
Malsch (Rhein-Neckar district, district code 08226, around 14,000 inhabitants) is located in the northern Kraichgau, between Heidelberg and Sinsheim — a few kilometers from Rauenberg. The community was historically known for its tobacco cultivation (tobacco has been cultivated in the northern Kraichgau region since the 17th century) and is now considered a wine-growing community. From Malsch-Rotenberg train station (S 5 Heidelberg–Sinsheim), you can reach the town center in 15 minutes on foot or by bus.
