20th Anniversary Edition – three days of German wines, brass music, and jazz on the Stiftsplatz in the historic town centre
Nottuln is located in the heart of the Münsterland, about 20 kilometres west of Münster. The village belongs to the district of Coesfeld and is famous for its largely preserved historic town centre: the former collegiate church of St. Martinus, the Stiftsplatz with its cobblestones, and the surrounding half-timbered houses form a cohesive ensemble that can be considered one of the most beautiful village centres in North Rhine-Westphalia without exaggeration. This is exactly where the Weinfest takes place every July.
The Weinfest Nottuln 2026 runs from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026, on the Stiftsplatz. This edition marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, which originally began in September as part of a smaller Kirmes (funfair) and was permanently moved to July in 2022 due to growing popularity.
The programme has remained true to itself for years, with annually changing musical focuses:
Friday and Saturday until midnight, Sunday until 6 p.m. This makes the Weinfest a classic three-day format: two long evenings and a cosy Sunday.
The Weinfest is organised by the municipality of Nottuln together with local retailers and associations. The seating, stage setup, and logistics are coordinated through community marketing, and the winegrowers come from several German growing regions. Admission is free – only food and drinks are paid for.
With a good 20,000 inhabitants, Nottuln is one of the larger municipalities in the district of Coesfeld. Its location in the Baumberge hills, the highest elevation in the Münsterland, makes it a popular excursion destination: cycling, hiking, eating out, a glass of wine on the Stiftsplatz. The Weinfest perfectly suits this quiet, cultivated character of the Münsterland.
The 2026 anniversary edition of the Weinfest Nottuln runs from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026, on the Stiftsplatz. The municipality of Nottuln, together with local associations, is the organiser.
The exact musical programme will be published shortly before the date on nottuln.de. Based on experience, the festival follows this pattern:
Free admission. Wine, food, and drinks at association and winegrower stalls for a fee.
By train to Coesfeld or Münster, then by bus (line R63 from Münster Hbf, line R64 from Coesfeld). By car via the A43 (exit Lüdinghausen) or the A1 (exit Münster-Nord).
Free parking spaces at the town entrance and in the school parking lots of Stiftsschule. The town centre is largely closed off for the festival.
Free admission. Wine, food, and drinks at winegrower and association stalls for a fee.
Long wooden benches on the Stiftsplatz – all occupied in good weather. Toilets in the former collegiate church and at mobile toilet facilities. Münster Bonus: many restaurants and cafés within walking distance if you fancy more than just wine and bratwurst.
Come on Sunday morning for the Frühschoppen – the quietest and most beautiful atmosphere. Those who want to feel the anniversary spirit should come on Saturday evening when the DJ and festival tent are in full swing. An overnight stay in one of the Baumberge hotels will complete the weekend.
