Literature festival in the heart of Nuremberg – readings, workshops, and Text.talks at the Katharinenruine
The texttage.nuernberg is the literature festival of the city of Nuremberg, taking place over four days around the Katharinenruine, the educational center, and the city library. Instead of being confined to a single hall, the festival spreads throughout the city center – with readings, discussions, workshops, and an open festival area.
The program combines three levels: Readings by well-known authors, intimate Text.talks – discussions centered around a book – and multi-day writing and comic workshops. Additionally, there are writing tandems, masterclasses, and the freely accessible Textualia Market, where local authors, associations, and publishers present their work through short readings, mini-workshops, and discussions. An evening concert at the Katharinenruine concludes the festival.
A hallmark of the texttage is the annually changing international focus: a guest country shapes individual program points and brings international voices to Nuremberg. Through the exchange format "Grenzenlos" (Borderless), joint writing projects are created between authors from Nuremberg and the guest country. The festival is supported by the Bildungszentrum and the Stadtbibliothek Nürnberg.
From July 16th to 19th, 2026, the Nuremberg city center around the Katharinenruine will once again become the festival grounds for texttage. The guest country for 2026 is the Czech Republic, represented by Jaroslav Rudiš and Vratislav Maňák, among others; through the "Grenzenlos" exchange program, joint projects between authors from Prague and Nuremberg will be created.
The festival will open on Thursday, July 16th, at 7 PM with Nava Ebrahimi, featuring a reading and a discussion about her novel "Und Federn überall".
