Mediterranean Film in a Franconian Courtyard
The Tucherschloss in Nuremberg's Sebalder Altstadt is a Renaissance city palace of the Tucher von Simmelsdorf merchant family from the 16th century. Since 2014, the inner courtyard, along with the adjacent Hirsvogelsaal, has been the venue for the Mittelmeerfilmtage — one of Nuremberg's most distinctive film series.
Concept
- Films from the Mediterranean region: Italian, Spanish, French, Greek, Turkish, Moroccan, Lebanese, and Israeli film art — from classics to premieres.
- Original language with German subtitles: The original is preserved; no one is forced to watch dubbed versions.
- Open Air in the Tucherschloss Courtyard: Summer evenings with a view of historic walls — open-air cinema with atmosphere, not a multiplex.
- Opening of the Open-Air Summer: The festival marks the beginning of Nuremberg's open-air summer of film, which lasts until September.
- Organizers: Mobiles Kino e.V. Nürnberg in cooperation with the City of Nuremberg Museums.
State and Cultural Context
Bavaria, administrative region Middle Franconia, independent city Nuremberg. As Bavaria's second-largest city, Nuremberg boasts a rich film culture — with the "Turkey/Germany" Film Festival and the "Silent Film Music Festival" as established fixtures. The Mediterranean Film Days complement this scene with a clear geographical focus and an unusual open-air setting.
