About Trempelmarkt Herbst

Twice a year — in May and September — the entire Old Town of Nuremberg transforms into one giant flea market for a day and a half. The Trempelmarkt is one of the largest inner-city flea markets in Europe, attracting up to 200,000 visitors per edition. From the Hauptmarkt to the Rathaus, through the entire Old Town along the Pegnitz: collectors, antique dealers, private individuals, junk dealers, and bargain hunters meet for a sleepless night between the burgher houses and the castle. The 2026 autumn edition takes place on September 11 and 12.

Over 50 Years of Trempelmarkt Tradition

The Nürnberger Trempelmarkt has been a firm fixture in Nuremberg's event calendar since the early 1970s. Twice a year — on the second weekend in May (spring edition) and the second weekend in September (autumn edition) — the entire Old Town from Hauptmarkt to the Pegnitz becomes a flea market. With up to 200,000 visitors per edition, it is one of the largest inner-city flea markets in Europe.

What Makes the Trempelmarkt Special

Unlike smaller weekend flea markets, the Trempelmarkt combines three things: firstly, its sheer size (several thousand stalls); secondly, the unique backdrop of Nuremberg's Old Town (Sebalduskirche, Hauptmarkt, Rathaus, Pegnitzufer, Burgaufstieg); thirdly, the Friday evening until midnight — a large open-air flea market in the dark, with fairy lights and a summer sky. Locals unanimously recommend: Friday evening is the magical time, Saturday is bargain hunter time.

What's on Offer

  • Collector's Items: Stamps, porcelain, books, coins, toys, records
  • Antiques: Furniture, art, clocks, jewelry from private collections
  • Second-hand Goods: Fashion, household items, tools, toys
  • Atmosphere: hundreds of private stalls along Hauptmarkt, Sebalder Platz, Rathausplatz, Hans-Sachs-Platz, Insel Schütt
  • Sales: only registered stallholders, no walk-up sales possible
  • Prohibited: Food, drinks, sweets, vehicles — remains a pure flea market

Stall Registration

Stall pitches for the 2026 autumn edition will be sold exclusively online via the Nuremberg City Market Office starting Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10 AM. Walk-in registrations are not possible. Those who want a stall must book for both days (Friday AND Saturday).

Trempelmarkt Herbst — edition 2026

The autumn edition of the Nürnberger Trempelmarkt in 2026 runs on Friday, September 11 (4 PM to midnight) and Saturday, September 12 (7 AM to 8 PM) throughout Nuremberg's Old Town. Thousands of stalls, collector's items, antiques, junk — with fair weather and under fairy lights in the historic Old Town. Stall sales start online on July 1, 2026, from 10 AM.

Trempelmarkt Autumn 2026

The Nuremberg City Market Office confirms the 2026 autumn edition for September 11 and 12. The Old Town will, as usual, be completely transformed into a flea market — from Hauptmarkt, Sebalder Platz, Rathausplatz, Hans-Sachs-Platz to Insel Schütt and along the Pegnitz riverbank.
