Nuremberg's oldest market – Spring opening on the Hauptmarkt
The Nuremberg Easter Market has a long tradition – it is the oldest market in the city of Nuremberg in Bavaria and kicks off the Nuremberg market year. It is also known locally as the "Häferlesmarkt," named after the traditional clay pots and pottery traditionally sold here. The venue is the central Hauptmarkt in the heart of the old town, in front of the Gothic Frauenkirche.
At nearly 90 stalls, vendors offer a diverse assortment: traditional pottery, basketry, and household goods, everyday items, hand-painted eggs and Easter decorations, Easter floral arrangements and ceramic figures, tablecloths, curtains, and baskets, clothing for the whole family, and arts and crafts from Germany and abroad. Sustainable wooden items and self-produced clothing complement the offerings, along with food and drinks, including a market bread stall.
With dedicated pop-up stalls, artisans have the opportunity to try out market life – an impulse for young, creative craftsmanship amidst the traditional market setting.
The Easter Market marks the beginning of the warmer season and draws locals and visitors alike to the Hauptmarkt. Admission is free, and the market is open daily – a popular meeting point around Easter in the Franconian metropolis.
