Traditional three-day festival on the Schützenwiese at Ludgerusweg — Schützenverein Ossensiel 1924, July 3rd and 4th, 2026
The Schützenverein Ossensiel 1924 e.V. is one of the most traditional clubs in the Münsterland pilgrimage town of Billerbeck. Founded in 1924, it celebrates its 102nd club year in 2026. From Friday, July 3rd to Saturday, July 4th, 2026, the traditional Schützenfest will take place on the Schützenwiese at Ludgerusweg.
Assembly of the marksmen at the clubhouse, march to the Schützenwiese, opening with the reigning king and queen, first dance at the festival tent.
Classic main festival day program: muster of the marksmen in the morning, parade through Ossensiel, king's shooting at noon, in the evening king's proclamation with crowning of the new king and queen and festival ball in the festival tent.
The Ossensiel Schützenfest is unadulteratedly Westphalian: smaller than the big city festivals, more personal than the tourist magnets — an authentic insight into the club life of the Münsterland. Members have known each other for decades, families attend together, generations pass on the tradition.
In conjunction with the festival calendar, the club holds its general assembly on November 20th, 2026, at 8:00 PM in the Gaststätte Dahl — the most important meeting of the club year with elections, reports, and honors.
Billerbeck is a small town with around 12,000 inhabitants in the Coesfeld district, in the Münsterland — known as the pilgrimage site of Saint Liudger, the first bishop of Münster (died 809). The Ludgerus Cathedral (colloquially "Mini-Dom") shapes the skyline. The district of Ossensiel is located on the eastern edge of the town with a rural character and active club culture.
The festival in 2026 runs on the first weekend of July. The general assembly takes place on November 20th, 2026, at Gaststätte Dahl.
Free admission. Food and drinks in the festival tent.
