BRINGS — The Cologne Dialect Cult Band with 35 Years of Career
If you're into German dialect rock, you can't ignore BRINGS. Founded in 1991 by brothers Peter and Stephan Brings, the Cologne band is one of the most successful "kölsche" bands of the last three decades. With their blend of Cologne dialect, catchy pop-rock, and carnival-friendly choruses, they've shaped hits like 'Superjeile Zick', 'Polka, Polka, Polka', 'Liebe gewinnt', and 'Kölle, alaaf!'. The 35 Years Tour 2026 is the occasion for a Germany-wide concert series — with two performances at the Freilichtbühne Billerbeck as a stop in the Münsterland.
Four Appearances in Billerbeck — A Tradition
The 2026 concerts are already the fourth BRINGS appearances at the Freilichtbühne Billerbeck. The Münsterland open-air stage and the Cologne band have an established relationship — which is not a given, as Billerbeck is a small Münsterland town with 12,000 inhabitants, and BRINGS tours in significantly larger venues. The Billerbeck performance is therefore also a commitment to the loyalty of their fan base in Münsterland.
Freilichtbühne Billerbeck — The Münsterland Open-Air Institution
The Freilichtbühne Billerbeck at Weihgarten 17 is one of the established open-air stages in the Münsterland. With space for around 3,000 spectators under the open sky, it offers a classic amphitheater format with semicircular seating rows and a large stage. The stage's program alternates between in-house theater productions, classical concerts, and pop/rock concerts — a versatile schedule that activates the stage throughout the season from May to September.
Two Concerts — May 8th and 9th, 2026
The 2026 BRINGS concerts will take place on two consecutive evenings:
- Friday, May 8th, 2026: Concert 1 — Tickets available through regular channels
- Saturday, May 9th, 2026: Concert 2 — already sold out, only wheelchair spaces remaining
The fact that Saturday's concert is sold out weeks in advance shows the strong pull of BRINGS in the Münsterland.
Line-up 2026
The band will perform in their classic five-piece lineup:
- Peter Brings — Vocals, Guitar (Frontman)
- Stephan Brings — Bass, Vocals (Co-founder)
- Kai Engel — Keyboards, Vocals
- Harry Alfter — Guitar, Vocals
- Christian Blüm — Drums
35 Years of Band History — A "Kölsche" Career
BRINGS belongs to the younger generation of "kölsche" bands that emerged in the 1990s alongside the older Bläck Fööss and the Höhner band. Unlike their "kölsche" predecessors, BRINGS played more rock and less classic carnival schlager from the outset. Today, they perform at every carnival in Cologne, while also playing open-air concerts and tours year-round outside the carnival season. With 35 years of career, they are among the longest-standing constellations in the German dialect pop scene.
Tickets and Travel
Tickets for Friday's performance are available from the Stadtsaal-Foyer in Billerbeck (Tel. 02543-7373), via email at [email protected], or at www.ticket-regional.de/billerbeck.de. Price per ticket: €46.50. For the sold-out Saturday performance, only wheelchair spaces can be ordered through the city office (accessibility contingent).
