The Kriesfeller Kerb in September – annual village festival with Jukebox Party, Kerwe parade and living tradition in the Donnersbergkreis.
The Kerwe Kriegsfeld is the annual Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Palatinate municipality of Kriegsfeld in the Donnersbergkreis district. Kriegsfeld is located in the Nordpfälzer Bergland near the A63 motorway, in a scenically attractive location between Donnersberg and Nahe. The Kerwe traditionally takes place in September.
Like many village Kerwe festivals in the Palatinate, the Kriesfeller Kerb follows the classic schedule: Opening on Friday evening, dance evening on Saturday, Kerwe parade and Frühschoppen (morning pint) on Sunday, family day on Monday. The Palatinate Kerwe customs with Kerweborsch (Kerwe lads) and Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) are also firmly anchored here.
The trademark of the Kriesfeller Kerb in recent years has been the Jukebox Party, where the audience determines the music requests – a modern element that combines tradition with current party formats and also appeals to a younger audience. The Jukebox Party is usually the social centerpiece of the Kerb on one of the festival evenings.
The Kerwe parade on Sunday afternoon brings together the clubs, the fire department, and the Kerweborsch. Decorated floats, brass bands, and club delegations march through the village streets, followed by the Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) and festival activities in the festival tent. Despite its manageable size, Kriegsfeld has managed for years to put on a Kerwe festival that is appreciated far beyond the municipal borders.
Culinary classics of Palatinate cuisine dominate: Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Bratwurst (fried sausage), fries, Palatinate wine from Donnersberg and Rheinhessen, draft beer. Cakes and Schmalzgebäck (lard pastries) are also a must.
The Kriesfeller Kerb 2026 continues the annual tradition. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years.
