Gourmet and strolling mile in the medieval old town of Iphofen
The Wine-Culinary Walk during the Iphöfer Kirchweih takes place annually on Kirchweih Sunday in Iphofen – one of the most beautiful wine towns in Bavaria, in the Kitzingen district, in the heart of the Franconian wine region. The historic old town, enclosed by a well-preserved town wall, forms the unique backdrop for a festival of enjoyment and strolling.
Iphofen is famous for its top wines, especially from the renowned Julius-Echter-Berg. During the walk, wineries open their doors and serve Franconian wine and Federweißer. Regional specialties such as Zwiebelkuchen and Schäuferla are offered, allowing visitors to experience Franconian wine culture firsthand.
The town's restaurants serve traditional Kirchweih dishes, cafés invite with homemade cake and coffee, and the Vinothek showcases Franconian wine culture. This combines old Kirchweih customs with a contemporary culinary experience.
A Sunday shopping event from 12 pm to 5 pm invites you to browse through boutiques and craft shops, complemented by flea markets. Music groups create a festive atmosphere at various spots in the old town, and galleries and museums are also open – a tour that appeals to all the senses.
A funfair with rides is set up at the Einersheimer Tor car park, particularly appealing to families with children. With over 50 participants and a program from 11 am to 6 pm, the Wine-Culinary Walk is a highlight of the event year in the Franconian wine region.
