Wachenheim — Palatinate Wine Village with Castle Romance
Wachenheim an der Weinstraße is one of the most prominent Palatinate wine villages — framed by Wachtenburg Castle, a striking medieval castle ruin above the village, and the famous courtyard of the former sparkling wine producer. The mix of castle romance, wine culture, and Palatinate conviviality makes the Castle and Wine Festival one of the outstanding events in the Mittelhaardt region.
Eleven Days of Festivities
In 2026, the festival will span eleven days, from June 11th to 21st — with an opening weekend and a main weekend. This is an exceptionally long festival period, filled by the combination of several program elements. It will officially open on June 12th, 2026, at 6 PM.
Program Highlights
The regular program includes: the opening wine and sparkling wine tasting at Wachtenburg Castle on June 11th for €30 per person; Family Sunday on June 14th with a children's program, Bavarian breakfast, and activities in the town hall square; the After-Work Party on Thursday, June 18th, with DJs and live music in several locations; the Walking Marathon on Saturday, June 20th, for €10 per person starting from the town hall square; the Day of Clubs on Sunday, June 21st, from 11 AM to 5 PM with club performances and interactive stations. Accompanying events include cellar tours with a two-part sparkling wine tasting for €12.50 per person, as well as historical city tours for €9 per person.
125 Years of Wachtenburg Winzer eG
In 2026, the Castle and Wine Festival also coincides with the 125th anniversary of Wachtenburg Winzer eG — the significant local winegrowers' cooperative. This anniversary will be particularly honored as part of the festival.

- Thursday, June 11th, 2026, 6:30 PM — Prelude to the Wine Festival: Wachenheim Wine and Sparkling Wine Tasting at Wachtenburg Castle with the Mayor and Wine Princess (€30 per person).
- Friday, June 12th, 2026, 6 PM — Official Opening of the Castle and Wine Festival.
- Sunday, June 14th, 2026 — Family Sunday with children's program, Bavarian breakfast, and activities in the town hall square.

Wachenheim is located on the B 271. By train: RB from Mannheim/Neustadt to Wachenheim. During the festival, traveling by train is strongly recommended.
