Franconian wine season from May to July in the historic Iphofen old town
The Iphöfer WeinZeit transforms the medieval old town of the Lower Franconian wine town of Iphofen into an open tasting landscape from May to July. The town in the Kitzingen district is considered one of Franconia's most renowned wine-growing regions – at the foot of the famous Iphöfer Julius-Echter-Berg and Iphöfer Kalb, some of Germany's most defining Silvaner sites grow.
Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as on three public holidays (Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi), the Iphofen wineries and squares open their gates. From 5 PM to 10 PM, guests can stroll through the old town with its half-timbered houses, city walls, and historic town gates, and taste Franconian wine in courtyards, inner courtyards, and public squares. The series combines wine tourism, culinary experiences, and city life into a flexible, accessible form of wine festival.
Iphofen, a town with around 4,700 inhabitants on the Main loop, belongs to the Franconian wine-growing region and is considered one of Bavaria's most beautiful wine towns with its well-preserved medieval townscape. The town has several wineries with national reputations and is home to the Knauf Museum and the Vinothek Iphofen. The WeinZeit series has been a permanent fixture of the Iphofen tourism year for years.
The state of Bavaria and the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen position themselves as a cultural tourism highlight with their wine heritage. Iphofen is one of the central addresses: the Iphöfer WeinZeit makes the wine experience plannable over several weeks, without having to commit to a single festival weekend.
From May 8th to July 5th, 2026, the Lower Franconian wine town of Iphofen once again invites you to the WeinZeit in its historic old town. Opening hours are from 5 PM to 10 PM each day. Guests can stroll through the medieval old town with its city walls and gates, taste Silvaner, Bacchus, Müller-Thurgau, and Spätburgunder directly from the Iphofen vintners, and enjoy regional snacks in courtyards and public squares. Free admission, pay for consumption.
