Traditional Advent market in the Schöneberg Kiez – with carousel, petting zoo, stage program, and 4 Advent Sundays
On Saturdays, Winterfeldtplatz hosts one of Berlin's largest and most popular weekly markets. However, during Advent, the Christmas market takes over – on all four Advent Sundays. This makes the Winterfeldtplatz market an unusual format: not two weeks of continuous operation, but a full-fledged family market for four Sundays with a compact schedule (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
For families: Carousel, petting zoo, stick bread baking at the campfire, face painting booth. For adults: Mulled wine, honey wine, mead, bratwurst, potato pancakes, roasted almonds, candied apples, waffles, cotton candy. Market stalls offer crafts – wooden toys, ceramics, jewelry, scented soaps, Advent decorations. The decorated stage features a daily changing music and arts program: brass bands, choirs, storytelling for children, small concerts.
Winterfeldtplatz is located in the Schöneberg Kiez between Bayerisches Viertel and Nollendorfplatz. The neighborhood has always been mixed: bourgeois, queer (the old Schöneberg gay district around Nollendorfplatz is only 5 minutes away), family-oriented. The market attracts residents from Schöneberg, Wilmersdorf, and Tiergarten, as well as Berliners from all over the city who know the market as a classic.
The organizer is the Berliner Schausteller Verband (Berlin Showmen's Association) – a traditional professional association that organizes several Berlin Advent markets. The Winterfeldtplatz market is one of its oldest formats. Stall fees are deliberately kept moderate, attracting many smaller exhibitors.
As every year, the Berliner Schausteller Verband is organizing the Christmas market at Winterfeldtplatz for the four Advent Sundays. Dates for 2026 (subject to official confirmation): Nov 29, Dec 6, Dec 13, and Dec 20 – from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
The format remains the proven one: carousel, petting zoo, stick bread baking, face painting booth for children, plus stalls with crafts and Advent decorations, mulled wine and food stalls. On stage, a changing program runs every Sunday with brass bands, choirs, fairy tale readings for children, and small concerts.
The final dates and detailed program for 2026 will be published by the Berliner Schausteller Verband in the fall of 2026.
