By train: Kirkel station, from there about a 10-minute walk to the market square. By car: A6 (Saarbrücken–Mannheim), exit Homburg-West, then follow the signs.

Kirkel is a municipality with around 10,000 inhabitants in the Saarpfalz district, located between Homburg and St. Ingbert. It is known for its castle ruins, the medieval Kirkel Castle with its distinctive tower. The municipality consists of several districts, including Kirkel-Neuhäusel, the main town located north of the castle. The first Advent weekend is traditionally celebrated here with a two-day Christmas market.
