About Bürgerfest Weiden

Once a year, the historic old town of Weiden in der Oberpfalz transforms into a large festival mile: The Weiden Bürgerfest takes over the Oberer and Unterer Markt as well as the side streets from Issy-les-Moulineaux-Platz to Schlörplatz. Around 15 groups perform on about six stages with rock, pop, Schlager, funk, soul, and country music, while around 50 catering businesses and clubs, as well as regional breweries, ensure culinary delights. The official opening is traditionally performed by the mayor.

Bürgerfest Weiden — edition 2026

The 54th Weiden Town Festival will take place on Saturday, June 27th, and Sunday, June 28th, 2026, around the Old Town Hall – on the Oberer and Unterer Markt, as well as in the side streets from Issy-les-Moulineaux-Platz to Schlörplatz. Around 15 groups on six stages, opening on Sunday at 11 am by Mayor Benjamin Zeitler.

On June 27th and 28th, 2026, Weiden will celebrate its 54th Town Festival throughout the old town. Saturday starts at 6 pm with a full program, and Sunday runs from 11 am to 9 pm. The official opening will be performed on Sunday at 11 am by Mayor Benjamin Zeitler, preceded by a church service at 9:30 am.

On about six stages, approximately 15 groups will perform with rock, pop, Schlager, funk, and country music. Around 50 catering businesses and clubs, as well as delegations from twin towns, will be present.

Getting There

Weiden i.d.OPf. is accessible by train (regional services) and by car via the A93 motorway. The festival grounds are centrally located in the old town, which is easily walkable. Arrival by public transport is recommended.

Weiden's Big Town Festival

The Weiden Bürgerfest is one of the largest and most popular festivals in the northern Oberpfalz. The historic old town around the distinctive Old Town Hall on the Oberer Markt is the venue. For two days, the entire city center becomes a stage – with music, gastronomy, and a convivial atmosphere that defines the special character of a true Bürgerfest.

Six Stages, Many Styles

Musically, the festival is broadly positioned: Around six stages – including on the Oberer Markt, Unterer Markt, at Weiden-am-See-Platz, in Judengasse, and at Schlörplatz – feature performances by about 15 groups. The spectrum ranges from brass bands and youth brass bands to rock, pop, funk, and soul, as well as country, Latin, and Caribbean sounds, and DJ sets. There's a perfect spot for every taste.

Gastronomy and Twin Towns

Around 50 catering businesses and clubs provide food with regional and international specialties, as well as beers from regional breweries. Delegations from Weiden's twin towns are also regularly represented, underscoring the festival's unifying character. The official opening on Sunday by Mayor Benjamin Zeitler marks the festive start.
