Autumn street festival with about a dozen Erden vintners, regional Mosel cuisine, and international visitors
Erden, with the vineyard sites "Erdener Treppchen" and "Erdener Prälat", is among the most renowned wine-growing communities of the Middle Mosel. The Prälat site – an extremely steep, south-facing slope directly on the Mosel with red slate soil – is considered one of the most sought-after Riesling sites in the world. Visitors to the Winzer-, Wein- und Straßenfest in Erden have a unique opportunity to taste these wines directly from the vintner families.
From October 2nd to 4th, 2026, the village's main street will transform into a festival mile. Approximately twelve vintners will set up their stalls in front of their houses or courtyards, presenting their wines by the glass. Riesling dominates, complemented by Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), and Sekt (sparkling wine). Federweißer (newly fermented wine) from the current harvest may also be available, depending on the vintage's progress.
Regional gastronomy complements the program: Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters, soups, salads, and sweet specialties. Several courtyards also serve complete meals, focusing on traditional Mosel cuisine – a blend of German, French, and Luxembourgish influences.
Over the years, the Erden street festival has developed into an event with a mixed international audience. Guests from the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Great Britain, and Scandinavia are regularly present – wine tourists who appreciate the vineyard tradition of the Middle Mosel and take the opportunity to visit several Erden vintners in one weekend.
The 2026 edition continues the successful concept. Participating vintners will set up their stalls along the continuous festival mile, allowing visitors to move between stations on foot. Federweißer (newly fermented wine) from the current harvest will be available, depending on the weather and vintage progress.
The extended weekend around German Unity Day marks a final highlight of the season in the Mosel event calendar. The Erden street festival can be ideally combined with other autumn Mosel events, such as the St. Remigius Wine Kirmes in Kröv.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The list of participating Erden vintners will be published on VisitMosel and the website of the local community of Erden.
Erden is located on the B 53 federal road between Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach. Train connections are available via Wittlich or Bullay, with a bus link to the village.
