Four summer evenings with DJ sets and café in Max Liebermann's garden – Liebermann Villa am Wannsee, May 22 to September 11, 2026
The Liebermann Villa am Wannsee at Colomierstraße 3 (Wannsee district, Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough) was the summer house of the Berlin painter Max Liebermann (1847–1935). Built in 1909 according to Liebermann's own plans, with a garden designed in the reform movement style, the villa was a meeting point for Berlin's artistic and intellectual scene until the Nazi era. Today, it is a museum and one of Berlin's most beautiful artists' homes. In 2026, it celebrates its 20th anniversary as a museum.
As part of the anniversary summer, the Max Liebermann Society invites you to four after-work evenings in the garden. The format is deliberately more relaxed than the classic museum evenings: DJ Flying Sounds plays an electronic and chill-melodic set, Café Max sells snacks and drinks, and visitors can move freely in the garden, from the old pavilion to the lakeside with views of the Wannsee.
The four dates in 2026 are: May 22 (Opening), June 12, August 28, and September 11 (Closing). Each Thursday/Friday evening, admission usually around 5 PM, program until sunset and a little beyond. In case of bad weather, the celebration moves to the inner courtyard and the café area.
The after-work series is complemented by two classical benefit concerts: June 29, 2026 (7:15 PM) – “Kontraste in Blech” (Contrasts in Brass), trumpet quintet of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin with baroque and modern trumpet sounds. August 11, 2026 (7:00 PM) – “Zwischen Welten” (Between Worlds), Anna Margolina Trio with musical settings of the Yiddish poet Anna Margolin (Jazz-Folk-Soul Crossover). Both concerts €40 per person, admission 30 minutes before the start with a welcome drink. Proceeds support the renovation of the ground floor.
The after-work format was launched in 2026 for the museum anniversary, taking place on four summer evenings in Max Liebermann's garden. Unlike the classic museum evenings, the focus here is not on the collection, but on the atmosphere: garden by the Wannsee, sunset over the lake, DJ set, bar in Café Max. A deliberately relaxed format intended to attract a younger Berlin audience to the Liebermann Villa.
