Two-day festival in the courtyard of the wine cooperative in Achertal Valley — with Nature Park Market
Waldulm is one of the districts of Kappelrodeck in the Achertal Valley, Ortenau district — a small wine village at the transition between the Rhine plain and the northern Black Forest. The Waldulm Wine Cooperative operates one of the oldest winemakers' cellars in the Achertal Valley here; every year in September, it opens its courtyard areas for the Waldulmer Weinfest "around the Winzerkeller". In 2026, the festival will take place on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13.
The focus is on Waldulm wines: Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) — the hallmark of the Achertal Valley and the Ortenau region —, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Grauburgunder, Weißburgunder, and some selection wines from the steeper slopes on the mountain. Tasting is available in an open format at the cooperative's stand; sales by the bottle directly to visitors are part of the concept.
The musical program is provided by the Trachtenkapelle Waldulm — a traditional brass band with around 70 musicians, rooted in Waldulm for over 160 years. They play classical brass music repertoire, polkas, and South German classics. The festival is one of the Trachtenkapelle's main stage dates in the annual calendar — alongside Ascension Day in the vineyards and their spring concert in the Pfarrberghalle.
Running concurrently with the wine festival is the Nature Park Market, a regional market featuring products from the Black Forest Nature Park Central/North. Here, farms, beekeepers, cheese dairies, distilleries, and small manufactories from the Achertal and Renchtal valleys present their products. The combination of wine, brass music, and a regional specialty selection makes the Waldulmer Weinfest one of the distinguished gourmet weekends in the Ortenau autumn calendar.
Kappelrodeck, with just under 6,000 inhabitants, is located in the Ortenau district in the state of Baden-Württemberg, at the transition between the Rhine plain and the Black Forest valley. The Achertal Valley — along with Renchtal, Sasbachtal, and Kinzigtal — is one of Baden's most traditional wine regions. Waldulm is situated on the slope above the valley, overlooking the vineyards — a typical Ortenau scene that makes the wine festival one of the most atmospheric gourmet events in the region.
The organizers are the Waldulm Wine Cooperative and the Trachtenkapelle Waldulm. The festival takes place on both days in the cooperative's courtyard — wine tasting at the winemakers' stands, catering by local associations, live music by the Trachtenkapelle, and the Nature Park Market with products from the Black Forest.
The exact hourly program will be published shortly before the festival date by the Trachtenkapelle Waldulm and the cooperative on their websites. Structurally, the festival follows the proven profile: opening in the morning, lunch, afternoon program with concerts, evening program until late.
Free admission. Wine 0.1 liter typically €2.00–€3.50 depending on the variety. Food at usual festival prices. Market products from the Nature Park Market at individual producer prices.
Kappelrodeck-Waldulm is accessible via the A 5 (Achern exit) and the L 87. By train via Achern (Rhine Valley Railway Karlsruhe–Basel), then bus or taxi to Waldulm. Parking at the festival grounds is limited — arrival by public transport or on foot from neighboring villages is recommended.
Saturday, September 12, 2026, and Sunday, September 13, 2026 — from morning until evening. Nature Park Market runs concurrently on both days.
Free admission. Wines, food, and market products are paid for individually on site.
