About Jahninselfest

The Jahninselfest takes place on the Jahninsel, right under the Steinerne Brücke in Regensburg, on June 5th and 6th, 2026. It's a two-day open-air festival featuring rock, punk, hardcore, and pop-rock beyond the mainstream. The Scants of Grace e.V. association has been organizing the festival on a voluntary basis for over a decade. The lineup includes bands from Regensburg, Bavaria, and all over Germany; a second stage for small arts features comedy, circus, and improvisation. It offers a family-friendly charm despite its alternative music focus.

Festival beneath the Steinerne Brücke

The Jahninselfest takes place on the Jahninsel — a narrow island in the middle of the Danube, directly beneath the Steinerne Brücke, one of Europe's most important medieval bridge structures and part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Regensburg's Old Town. The stage is set in the bridge's shadow, with the Danube flowing past on both sides — creating one of Bavaria's most atmospheric concert backdrops.

Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Pop-Rock

The festival's musical profile is clear: alternative rock music beyond the mainstream. Rock, Punk, Hardcore, Pop-Rock, and Ska-Punk dominate the lineup, with occasional hip-hop and indie acts. The bands come from the Regensburg and Bavarian scene, featuring national headliners from German-speaking countries. In the past, bands like Rantanplan, Antilopen Gang, The Yoohoos, Johnny Firebird, Lester, and Opiliones have performed — a mix of established stars and local acts.

Small Arts Stage as a Second Performance Space

In addition to the main stage, there is a small arts stage that offers comedy, circus arts, juggling, improvisation theater, and open-mic slots on Saturday afternoon and evening. This second performance format also makes the Jahninselfest accessible to families who are not looking for continuous rock music, and it helps manage the crowds at the main stage.

Run by Volunteers — Scants of Grace e.V.

The festival is organized by the non-profit association Scants of Grace e.V. — entirely on a voluntary basis, without any commercial backing. The association is sustained by membership fees, supporting partners, and revenue from festival tickets and bar sales. This keeps ticket prices low and maintains the festival's family-friendly character.

Regensburg, the Danube, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site

Regensburg is one of southern Germany's most important medieval cities; the Old Town with Stadtamhof was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2006. The Steinerne Brücke (construction began in 1135) and the Jahninsel are part of this World Heritage ensemble. A concert on the island is therefore a special experience, both culturally and atmospherically — open-air music in front of a 900-year-old bridge, with the Danube flowing right beneath your feet.

Jahninselfest — edition 2026

The Jahninselfest 2026 takes place on Friday, June 5th, from 5 PM to 10 PM, and on Saturday, June 6th, from 2:30 PM to 10 PM on the Jahninsel beneath the Steinerne Brücke in Regensburg. Alternative rock music, punk, hardcore, and pop-rock on the main stage; comedy, circus, and open-mic on the small arts stage on Saturday afternoon. Organizer: Scants of Grace e.V. Ticket pre-sale is ongoing.

The 2026 edition is confirmed by the City of Regensburg in its event calendar (regensburg.de/veranstaltungen/detail/588918). The festival website jahninselfest.de simultaneously confirms: pre-sale is ongoing, ticket shop at tickets.jahninselfest.de is open. The festival duration is compressed into two days (previously sometimes three days) — a format clearly focused on two intensive evenings.

The full lineup will be published closer to the date on jahninselfest.de/lineup. Based on experience, five to seven bands will perform per day, with set lengths between 30 and 60 minutes.
