One of the most beautiful wine festivals in the Black Forest with a grand parade on Sunday
From October 2nd to 4th, 2026, the small Black Forest wine-growing community of Sasbachwalden will celebrate the 77th edition of its widely renowned Harvest Thanksgiving and Wine Festival. With a tradition dating back to 1949, the festival is one of Baden's most traditional wine festivals, marking the transition from the hard work of the grape harvest to the joyful tasting of the new vintages. The venue is the premises of the renowned Alde Gott Winzer Schwarzwald eG at Talstraße 2 — one of Baden's most famous wine cooperatives.
The festivities kick off on Friday evening from 5 PM:
Saturday combines tradition with family-friendliness:
The crowning highlight is the grand parade on Sunday at 2 PM. Over 80 flower-adorned floats, traditional music bands, farmer groups, equestrian delegations, and historical carriages will parade through the wine village. The floats are decorated weeks in advance by clubs and families with thousands of fresh flowers, grapes, and symbols of the grape harvest. The spectacle attracts thousands of spectators from Baden, Alsace, Switzerland, and neighboring Württemberg every year. Following: a grand concert of all traditional music bands in the festival tent.
The Alde Gott Winzer Schwarzwald eG is one of Baden's most famous wine cooperatives. The name “Alde Gott” (Old God) comes from a local legend — a stone wayside shrine in the vineyard gave the wine its name. The cooperative cultivates around 200 hectares of vineyards on the Black Forest slopes around Sasbachwalden. Specialties include Spätburgunder, Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau from the steep slopes. The cooperative's premises provide the ideal festival location — right in the wine village, with views of the vineyards.
With just under 2,500 inhabitants, Sasbachwalden is one of the smallest but best-known villages in the Ortenau district. The municipality has been awarded “Germany's Most Beautiful Flower Village” multiple times — the half-timbered houses are literally covered in flowers in summer and autumn. This floral tradition is also reflected in the festival parade. Sasbachwalden is located at the entrance to the Ortenau Wine Route, right on the edge of the Black Forest National Park — ideal for wine tourism combined with hiking.
The 77th edition of the Sasbachwalden Harvest Thanksgiving and Wine Festival will run for three days around the premises of the Alde Gott Winery Cooperative. Highlights: VOXX Club on Friday, crowning of the wine royalty on Saturday, and the spectacular parade with flower-adorned floats on Sunday. Thousands of visitors from Baden, Alsace, and Switzerland are expected.
