Before that, a parade moves from the market square to the festival grounds – traditional costumes, clubs, and music groups characterize the scene. From July 31 to August 5, 2026, the town of Waldkirchen invites you to its six-day Volksfest at the New Festival Grounds. The opening on Friday, July 31, features the mayor's beer tapping ceremony at 5 PM, accompanied by a concert by the Waldkirchen town band in the market square, followed by a parade to the festival grounds on Holzfeldstraße.

Getting There
Waldkirchen is located on the B12 between Passau and Freyung. By car via the A3 (exit Aicha vorm Wald or Garham), then B12 towards Freyung. By the Ilztalbahn from Passau (seasonal). Parking is available at the festival grounds and at the LOBO discotheque.
Admission
Admission to the festival grounds and the festival tent is free. Table reservations for the tent can be made online (reservation system at volksfest-waldkirchen.de).
Tip
Tuesday evening with the grand fireworks (10:30 PM) is one of the special highlights. Those coming with family should plan for the family program on Tuesday afternoon. Overnight stays in Waldkirchen or in the Bavarian Forest region.
