Christmas market in the historic half-timbered old town of Waiblingen — from the 1st Advent until mid-December 2026
Waiblingen, the administrative seat of the Rems-Murr district (AGS 08119) with around 56,000 inhabitants, calls itself a “Young City in Old Walls”. The character is shaped by the historic old town with half-timbered houses and medieval traces — and at the same time by economic dynamism thanks to its proximity to Stuttgart and the company Stihl. At the Waiblingen Christmas Market, old meets modern: the historic facades form the backdrop, and the program focuses on contemporary content.
Unlike most Christmas markets, the Waiblingen market is spread across four clearly separated areas:
This allows visitors to explore several covered areas even in cold weather — which is unusual and one of the advantages over purely outdoor markets.
The central Christmas Stage on the Market Square offers a daily changing program:
A Waiblingen specialty: On Fridays and Saturdays, the regular weekly market offer at the town hall is expanded with an Advent weekly market. Regional farmers, cheese dairies, honey, and poultry — a welcome addition for gifts or festive cuisine, complementing the usual mulled wine and bratwurst offerings.
Horse-drawn carriage rides on weekends offer a special perspective on the historic old town. Fireworks on the opening weekend and free Christmas music concerts complete the offerings. Admission to the entire market: free.
Waiblingen is only a 10-minute S-Bahn ride from Stuttgart Central Station — perfect for a day trip from the state capital. Over 1,000 free parking spaces around the old town make arriving by car uncomplicated.
The exact daily program will be published in November 2026 on the city's website. The market structure has been consistent for years:
