A Young Generation Creates the Programme
The WE ARE THE FUTURE Festival is arguably the most modern youth festival in the Rems-Murr district. The focus is on a generation that no longer wants to be merely entertained but wants to perform on stage itself: young musicians, skaters, dancers, designers, and activists from Waiblingen, Stuttgart, and the region. The city of Waiblingen, under the leadership of the Youth and Culture Department, curates the festival together with young people, providing a central platform for their “concerns, wishes, and demands, creativity, and energy.” The festival is part of a broader youth participation programme in Waiblingen.
Sport, Dance, Fashion, Art, Music
The five pillars shape the festival layout: The Skatebowl hosts BMX, skateboard, and streetboard shows with local and national professionals. Several dance stages feature hip-hop, breakdance, and experimental choreographies. Fashion shows by young designers from the Stuttgart area, graffiti workshops with professional sprayers, and live painting stations complete the visual offerings. Musically, the programme ranges from DJ sets and hip-hop acts to indie bands — previous years featured artists like MilleniumKid on stage, with an aftershow concert by Simon Will & Band.
More Than Just a Show — Social Issues
The festival combines entertainment with social engagement. Sustainability means: concrete waste reduction measures, vegetarian-vegan food stalls, delivery by cargo bike. Diversity means: visibility for women* in skate scenes, queer artists, an awareness concept. Social Responsibility means: free admission for everyone, a gaming zone with workshops on game development, a Chill & Empower Zone as a retreat, Open You(th) Space for youth clubs.
Waiblingen — A Young City in the Rems-Murr District
Waiblingen is the district capital of the Rems-Murr district in Baden-Württemberg, located at the confluence of the Rems and Neckar rivers in the Stuttgart metropolitan area. With around 56,000 inhabitants, the city offers urban infrastructure while providing direct access to vineyards and the Remstal landscape. The Skatebowl is considered one of the best skating spots in the region and will once again be the centrepiece of a festival in 2026, demonstrating how youth culture and city marketing can go hand in hand — without the festival leaning too heavily into marketing.
WE ARE THE FUTURE Festival — edition 2026
The WE ARE THE FUTURE Festival 2026 takes place from Friday, July 10, to Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Waiblingen Skatebowl. For three days, the central skate park on the Rems riverbank transforms into an open youth festival with five thematic pillars: Sport, Dance, Fashion, Art, and Music. The programme items are linked to the themes of sustainability, climate protection, and diversity.

Getting There
The Waiblingen Skatebowl is centrally located on the Rems riverbank. By S-Bahn: Take line S2/S3 to Waiblingen station, then a 10-minute walk. By car: Take the A14 motorway, exit Waiblingen-West, and park in the city centre car parks.
Admission
Free admission on all three festival days. Food and drinks are paid for separately.
Good to Know
