Advent market in a historic sanatorium setting southwest of Berlin
The Heilstätter Weihnachtsmarkt is one of the most atmospheric Advent events in the southwestern Berlin region. The venue is the listed ensemble of the Beelitz-Heilstätten — a sanatorium complex built between 1898 and 1930 with brick pavilions, iron structures, and extensive park grounds, now considered an industrial and architectural monument of European significance in Brandenburg. The market gathers in front of the historic bathhouse.
In 2026, the market runs on December 12 and 13, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Free admission. Around 30 exhibitors — regional and national — present handmade pieces, many of them unique creations. The assortment ranges from basket weaving and wood art to textile art and ceramics, as well as glass jewelry and natural cosmetics. Several exhibitors sell exclusively here.
Children experience the market differently than elsewhere: pony rides take a lap around the grounds, a craft station invites working with natural materials, and small hands-on activities round off the program. The food stalls smell of smoked salmon, herb-roasted meat, Maultaschen, candied almonds, and mulled wine. Bread is baked in a wood-fired oven, and stick cake is made over an open fire.
As dusk falls over the sanatorium grounds, fire bowls, fairy lights, and music create the typical Heilstätter atmosphere. The historic bathhouse itself, with its brick contours and stained-glass windows, provides a theatrical backdrop — making the market unique in Brandenburg's Advent calendar.
Beelitz, in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, is known regionally primarily for its asparagus. The Beelitz-Heilstätten area is located about 4 km north of the town center and has developed into a hotspot for industrial culture tourism in recent years — the Advent market is one of the most visitor-friendly occasions to get to know the site.
Exhibitors and program will be announced on the official website of KuB / City of Beelitz before the market weekend.
The final list of exhibitors and the stage program will be published in late autumn 2026.
