400 Years BSV Dörpen — A Historic Anniversary

The Bürgerschützenverein Dörpen e.V. was founded in 1626, according to the club's records — shortly after the beginning of the Thirty Years' War. With 400 years of club history in 2026, the club reaches a historic magnitude that is unparalleled in German marksmen's traditions. A club that has existed uninterrupted for four centuries — through wars, political upheavals, industrialization, and social change — deserves special recognition.

Sunday, June 15th, 2026 — Main Festival Day

Festive church service, bird shooting to find the king, king's dinner, grand parade through Dörpen, proclamation of the king, king's ball.

Monday, June 16th, 2026 — Family Day and Closing

Family afternoon, further shooting competitions, morning pint (Frühschoppen), closing evening.

Schützenplatz at Veeneweg

The Schützenplatz Dörpen at Veeneweg 3 is the club's traditional festival home. Marksmen's festivals have taken place here for generations; club life is anchored here. For the anniversary festival, the Schützenplatz will be specially decorated.

Parade from the Market Square

The march from Dörpen's market square near the church is part of the anniversary staging: a deliberate connection between church tradition (St. Vitus Parish Church), civic center (market square), and club life (Schützenplatz) — a triple anchor point that makes the club's roots in the community visible.
