Sociable club festival centered around Franconian wheat beer
The Weizenbierfest Goldbach is a local club festival of the Lower Franconian market town of Goldbach, a municipality in the district of Aschaffenburg (Bavaria). Goldbach is located on the Bavarian Lower Main, just a few kilometers east of Aschaffenburg and at the foot of the Spessart hills. The municipality belongs to the ecclesiastical and cultural sphere of Franconia, with its mix of Franconian wine country and Bavarian beer culture.
The festival takes place at the Old Fire Station Goldbach – a traditional, local venue used by local clubs. With its covered courtyard, a large event hall, and an adjacent outdoor area, the building provides the ideal setting for a summer beer festival. The Old Fire Station is a reminder of Goldbach's formerly independent fire brigade tradition and is now a center for club activities.
The focus of the festival is Weizenbier (wheat beer), one of the characteristic Bavarian and Franconian beer specialties. At the Weizenbierfest, the following will be served:
The beer is traditionally served in a tall, slender wheat beer glass, with a slice of lemon on the rim – optionally in the Old Bavarian or Franconian tradition.
The Weizenbierfest begins on June 6, 2026, starting at 5 p.m. and runs until late in the evening. The menu features classics of Franconian tavern cuisine: sausages from the charcoal grill, Franconian snack platters with ham, cheese, and rye bread, homemade salads, and pretzels. A brass band or a party band accompanies the evening, without the club festival losing its family-friendly character.
The organizers are Goldbach's local clubs – fire brigade, sports clubs, or music clubs, depending on the year. The proceeds go to support club activities. This makes the Weizenbierfest far more than a commercial event: it is living club life, a meeting place for Goldbach's citizens, and a contribution to local cultural life. Such club festivals are characteristic of the Bavarian Lower Main region and shape the identity of the Lower Franconian market towns.
The Weizenbierfest 2026 opens its doors on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. at the historic Old Fire Station Goldbach. Various wheat beer specialties will be served at the festival tables in the covered courtyard and the hall area: Hefeweizen, Kristallweizen, Dunkles Weizenbier, and occasionally Weizenbockbier. The Franconian tavern cuisine offers sausages from the charcoal grill, snack platters with ham, cheese, and rye bread, homemade potato salads, and pretzels. A live band or a DJ will provide a relaxed atmosphere until late in the evening.
Free admission. Hefeweizen 0.5 l approx. €4–5, sausage roll €4, snack platter €7–10, pretzels €1–2. Payment exclusively on site in cash.
Goldbach is located directly east of Aschaffenburg on the B26 federal road and the Aschaffenburg–Würzburg railway line. Goldbach (Unterfr.) train station is a few minutes' walk from the Old Fire Station. Autobahn connection A3 (Aschaffenburg-Ost). Parking available in the center of Goldbach.
Free admission to the festival grounds. Wheat beer (0.5 l) approx. €4–5, sausage roll €4, snack platter €7–10. Payment on site, usually in cash.
If you are in Aschaffenburg in the afternoon, you can visit Johannisburg Castle, the Pompejanum, or Schönbusch Park, and then head to Goldbach in the evening. The Spessart region with its hiking trails is just a few kilometers away – ideal for an extended weekend stay on the Bavarian Lower Main.
