Lower Franconian Music Festival of the Sodenthaler Musikanten at the Bürgerhaus
The Musikfest of the Sodenthaler Musikanten takes place annually at the community center (Bürgerhaus) in the Soden district of the market town of Sulzbach am Main. Sulzbach is located in the Miltenberg district in Lower Franconia on the Main river, in the heart of the Spessart foothills. The Soden district, formerly a farming and mining village, is known for its vibrant community life.
The festival is organized by the Sodenthaler Musikanten, a brass band from the Sulzbach district. Over two festival days, the Sodenthaler themselves, along with guest bands from the Maintal and Odenwald regions, provide the musical entertainment.
The program ranges from open-air concerts and morning pint (Frühschoppen) to evening festivals with dance music. Main Franconian specialties – pork belly, "Brotzeit" (snack platters), Maibock beer, and Franconian wines – complement the musical program.
In 2026, the music festival is part of a busy festival calendar: The traditional open-air concert (July 10–11) follows in July, and the 100th anniversary of the BRK Sulzbach (June 28, 2026) takes place in June. This makes the summer months in Sulzbach some of the most event-filled weeks of the year.
By combining brass music, Franconian hospitality, and community life, the music festival shapes Sulzbach's character as a Lower Franconian market town. It's a festival that brings together the residents from the Sulzbach districts of Soden, Dornau, and Sulzbach-Zentrum.
The 2026 music festival will take place on June 27 and 28 around the Bürgerhaus Soden. The Sodenthaler Musikanten and guest bands will provide a varied program of open-air concerts, morning pint (Frühschoppen), and evening festivals.
In the same summer, the BRK Sulzbach celebrates its 100th anniversary on June 28, and the big open-air concert follows on July 10/11. Thus, the music festival is part of one of the most eventful festival weekends of the Sulzbach summer.
Open-air concerts and morning pint (Frühschoppen) mostly free, festival evening with moderate admission fee on site. Food and drinks are offered by the Sodenthaler Musikanten.
Sulzbach am Main is accessible by train (Maintal line Aschaffenburg–Miltenberg). By car, take the B469 or the A3 motorway (Stockstadt exit). The Soden district is a few kilometers from the train station.
Varies daily – morning pint (Frühschoppen) and open-air concerts are often free, evening festivals have a moderate admission fee. Food and drinks are available on site.
Food and drinks are served by the Sodenthaler Musikanten and their partner clubs – tips are welcome.
