Rheinsberg is a small town in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the Ruppiner Seenland — known for its Rheinsberg Castle (summer residence of Frederick the Great, later a cultural centre), the town church St. Laurentius, and a historically grown town centre managed by the working group "Cities with Historic Town Centres". This urban backdrop makes the Rheinsberg Christmas Market one of the most atmospheric Advent markets in northern Brandenburg.

The venue is the Kirchplatz, framed by the historic town church St. Laurentius and the burgher houses of the town centre. The wooden stalls, decorated fir trees, and the illumination of the church create the typical atmosphere of a small, historically grown Advent market — no plastic stalls in a car park, but market activity in a place with history.

The programme includes the classic elements of a Brandenburg Advent market: mulled wine and punch, roasted almonds, baked apples, and Christmas specialities, a children's pony ride (a traditionally popular activity in Brandenburg), a small stage with dance and music contributions from local clubs, and stalls from regional traders — arts and crafts, honey, smoked goods, Christmas gifts.

Rheinsberg Castle is just around the corner — one of Brandenburg's most beautiful Frederician palace complexes, combined with the Tucholsky Museum and the Castle Theatre.
