Main Schützenfest of the Bohmte Municipality

The Schützenfest Bohmte is the main Schützenfest of the Bohmte municipality — the most important of the several Schützenfeste held annually in the districts of Bohmte, Hunteburg, Bohmterheide, and Stirpe-Oelingen. The venue is the central Schützenplatz in the main town of Bohmte.

First Weekend of July 2026

The 2026 edition runs on Monday, July 6th, and Tuesday, July 7th — a classic Monday-Tuesday start for Lower Saxony Schützenfeste, with a large parade on Sunday (July 5th in 2026) and festival days on Monday and Tuesday.

Classic Schützenfest Program

As is customary for Schützenfeste in the Osnabrück region, the festival includes a clear traditional program: bird shooting, election of the king, proclamation of the new king and queen, parade through Bohmte, king's dinner, dance evening with a live band, and morning pint (Frühschoppen). Fanfare and marching bands accompany the traditional elements.

Bohmte Shooting Club

The Schützenverein Bohmte (Bohmte Shooting Club) is one of the central pillars of club life in the municipality. With an active shooting sports group, youth work, and social events, the club is committed to the village community beyond the main festival.

Bohmte — Municipality by the Wiehengebirge

Bohmte is located in the northwestern Osnabrück region, transitioning towards the Wiehengebirge hills. With the Mittelland Canal running through the municipality and several rural communities, a rural idyll characterizes the area. The main Schützenfest brings the different districts together — a moment of communal self-affirmation.
