Traditional Volksfest in the Asparagus Town
The Volksfest Schrobenhausen is the most important folk festival in the town of Schrobenhausen, the renowned 'Asparagus Town' in the Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen in Bavaria. On the festival grounds of Stiefschen Wiese, the region celebrates vibrant folk festival customs for five days.
The highlight of the festival is the ceremonial crowning of the Schrobenhausen Asparagus Queen in the festival tent at the Volksfestplatz. It honors the famous cultivation area of Schrobenhausen asparagus and makes the region's agricultural identity tangible – a social highlight that receives attention far beyond the town's borders.
The festival's course is shaped by tried-and-tested highlights:
In the festival tent, music bands provide the atmosphere, while on the festival grounds, rides, showmen, and culinary stalls offer family entertainment.
The most recent edition expands the program with a Ferris wheel, a more extensive musical offering, and alcohol-free light beer on tap. Volksfest Schrobenhausen thus serves as a convivial meeting point for the entire region and a vibrant showcase of Upper Bavarian folk festival culture.
The 56th Volksfest Schrobenhausen will be celebrated from May 7 to 11, 2026, on the Stiefschen Wiese festival grounds. Opening hours: Thursday from 6 PM, Friday from 7:30 PM, Saturday from 2 PM, Sunday from 10 AM, Monday from 12 PM. The social highlight is the crowning of the Asparagus Queen on Sunday, May 10, 2026, starting at 7 PM in the festival tent at the Volksfestplatz. The festival's course is shaped by the Family Afternoon on Saturday, the Frühschoppen on Sunday, and the Senior Afternoon on Monday. New additions for 2026 include a Ferris wheel, a more extensive musical offering, and alcohol-free light beer on tap.
Entry to the festival grounds is free. Rides and refreshments are at usual folk festival prices; partly reduced prices for rides during the Family Afternoon.
