About Street Food Münster July

The Street Food & Music Festival Münster transforms Schloßplatz in front of the baroque Prince-Bishop's Palace into an international culinary mile from July 24th to 26th, 2026. Over 25 food trucks offer Mexican tacos, Thai street food, BBQ, vegan specialties, African and Indian cuisine, German pretzels, ice cream rolls, and crêpes. On the central DJ stage, Tony Trichter (Fri 5 PM), Marko Holtwick (Sat 3 PM), and DJ Buffins (Sun 1 PM) will provide the atmosphere – House, Party, Charts. Admission is free. The organizer is JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH from Dortmund. It is the second of three Münster editions per year (May, July, and October editions).

Getting There

By train: Münster Hauptbahnhof (ICE/IC), then a 12-minute walk via Hindenburgplatz to Schloßplatz. Alternatively, by bus or bicycle – Münster is Germany's cycling capital. By car: A1 exit Münster-Nord, parking garages Aegidiimarkt, Stubengasse, Theater.

Admission

Free. Food and drinks are paid for directly at the food trucks – usually card or cash accepted.

Tip

If you want to avoid queues, come early on Friday or before 2 PM on Sunday. If you're looking for atmosphere, come on Saturday from 5 PM. In case of rain: many trucks are covered, some seating areas are under canopies – but for sunbathers, Saturday/Sunday afternoon is the best choice.

The Street Food & Music Festival Münster will take place in three editions on the central Schloßplatz in 2026 – in May, July, and October. This fiche refers to the Summer Edition from July 24th to 26th, 2026. The format is established nationwide: Food trucks, DJs, free admission – an urban city festival hybrid that does without classic stage performances.

Unlike classic city festivals, there are no live bands; the DJ sets continuously maintain the atmosphere from noon until evening.

Format and Concept

JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH from Dortmund organizes this format in over a dozen German cities – with almost identical setups: trucks, DJs, free admission, short festival days. This lowers entry barriers and makes the festival a relaxed summer stop for commuters, students, families, and tourists.

Schloßplatz – Münster's Stage

Schloßplatz is the largest open space in Münster's city center. In front of the baroque facade of the Prince-Bishop's Palace (now the university seat), numerous major events take place here – from the Send (a Volksfest held three times a year) to concerts and demonstrations. Its location makes Schloßplatz an ideally visible festival site.

Münster (approx. 320,000 inhabitants) is one of Germany's largest university cities with over 60,000 students. The city has an exceptionally dense festival and event landscape – from classical music festivals (Tage Alter Musik) to film festivals, theater festivals, the Send Volksfest, and street food formats like this one. The Street Food Festival complements the program with a young, accessible format.
