Paul Kalkbrenner's first concert in Münster — Open Air at Schlossvorplatz
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, Berlin DJ and producer Paul Kalkbrenner will play his very first concert in Münster. The venue: Schlossvorplatz directly in front of the Princely Palace — the seat of the Westphalian Wilhelms University and one of Westphalia's most spectacular open-air locations. The concert starts at 6 PM and is presented by Hamburg-based concert promoter Dockland GmbH, who also organizes the major sister event Docklands Festival in Münster.
Remarkable: It's the first major concert at Schlossplatz in over a decade. This already symbolic location — an open-air event space with the baroque palace as a stage backdrop — had not been used for major events for a long time. With Paul Kalkbrenner, the format returns, and with one of the biggest names in Germany's electronic music scene.
Paul Kalkbrenner has been a central figure in the international techno and electro scene since the early 2000s. He became known to a wider audience through the film „Berlin Calling" (2008), in which he played the lead role and contributed the soundtrack with classics like „Sky and Sand". His album „7" reached number one on the German album charts in 2015. His live performances regularly attract tens of thousands of spectators — at festivals like Tomorrowland, Sonar, or Melt!, and in his own stadium and open-air concerts.
The open air starts at 6 PM with the opening program — other DJs will play before the main act. The exact names will be announced by the organizer Dockland closer to the event date. Paul Kalkbrenner himself performs his typical live set format: not a classic DJ mix, but a live performance on his equipment, where he reassembles and improvises his own tracks.
Ticket prices (incl. fees) are:
General advance sales started on Friday, January 23, 2026, 10 AM. Telekom Magenta Moments and Ticketmaster offered exclusive presales before that. Tickets are available through the usual online presale points and at the box office on the day of the event (if not already sold out).
The Schlossplatz (also Schlossvorplatz) is the open space in front of the baroque Princely Palace in Münster's city center. Built between 1767-1787 according to plans by Johann Conrad Schlaun, the palace now serves as the main building of the Westphalian Wilhelms University. The square in front of it is one of the largest contiguous open spaces in the city center — ideal for major open-air events, from Send (Münster's Volksfest) to the annual Schloss-Picknick and major concerts.
The organizer is Dockland GmbH, a Hamburg-based concert and festival promoter with many years of experience in the electronic music sector. Dockland already organizes the major Docklands Festival (at the harbor) annually in Münster and is expanding its event portfolio in the Westphalian university city with the Paul Kalkbrenner Schlossplatz concert.
Remarkable: On the same weekend, August 1, 2026, a rock open air will take place at Schlossvorplatz with bands like Donots and H-Blockx — also organized by Dockland. This makes the August weekend a double open-air weekend in Münster: Saturday rock, Sunday electro.
The concert marks a double premiere: Paul Kalkbrenner's first concert in Münster and the first major event at Schlossvorplatz in more than ten years. Starts at 6 PM with opening DJs, followed by Kalkbrenner's live set in front of the baroque palace. Organizer Dockland combines the open air with the rock concert the day before (Aug 1, Donots/H-Blockx) for a double weekend at Schlossplatz.
On the previous day (Saturday, August 1, 2026), Dockland is hosting a rock open air at the same venue with Donots and H-Blockx — separate ticket required.
Standing room €79.05, Front of Stage €89.40 (incl. presale fees). Advance sales started January 23, 2026, 10 AM — via Ticketmaster, Eventim, and local presale points.
By train: Münster Hauptbahnhof (main station), approx. 15 min. walk through the city center to Schlossplatz. By bike: Münster is Germany's cycling city — all roads lead to the center. By car: A1 or A43, then to the city center. Parking garages at the palace (Schlossplatz-Parkhaus) and Theaterplatz.

6:00 PM. Doors typically open 1-2 hours beforehand.
Those who want to experience the Münster open-air double feature can combine it with the rock open air on Saturday, August 1. Arrive well before 6 PM — the crowds at Schlossplatz will be large for the first major concert in over a decade.
