46th Volksfest Bodenkirchen
The Volksfest Bodenkirchen will take place for the 46th time in 2026. The organizer is Volksfest Bodenkirchen GdbR, an organizing committee of local restaurateurs and clubs. The festival grounds are the central event area in Bodenkirchen, a municipality with around 3,300 inhabitants in the Landshut district, Lower Bavaria. The concept consciously focuses on tradition and conviviality: festival tent, Bavarian cuisine, and a program for all generations.
Program Structure over Five Days
Thursday starts with a cabaret evening – in 2026 with Da Meier and Watschnbaam – as the prelude to the actual Volksfest. On Friday, the festival opening and beer tapping take place, accompanied by live music in the festival tent. Saturday is for families, seniors, and card games. On Sunday, the traditional vintage car meet opens, followed by a communal festival lunch. Monday concludes the festival with the community day.
Bavarian Delicacies in the Festival Tent
The gastronomic offer is classically Lower Bavarian: crispy pretzels, tender roast pork, juicy pork knuckles, chicken, sausages, and fish rolls. For the lunches on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the GdbR accepts pre-orders by June 13, 6:00 PM via email to [email protected].
Bodenkirchen in the Landshut District
Bodenkirchen is located between Vilsbiburg and Velden in the hilly Vilstal valley. The Volksfest has been an integral part of the community calendar since the 1980s, bringing together local clubs, fire departments, traditional costume groups, and restaurateurs under one festival tent roof. The mix of Volksfest, cabaret, and vintage car meet has become its hallmark over the years.
