About Neustädter Kerwa
Neustädter Kerwa — edition 2026
The Neustädter Kerwa 2026 is officially announced for Saturday, June 6th, to Sunday, June 14th, 2026. The festival grounds "Bei den Sommerkellern" will open on the opening day from 3:00 PM, on subsequent weekdays from 11:30 AM, and on Sundays from 11:00 AM.
As in previous years, a proven structure guides the program: On the Friday before the opening weekend, the Kerwafichte is erected; on Saturday, the beer tapping ceremony follows. Sunday is dedicated to the ecumenical festival service on the festival grounds, and on Monday, the marksmen parade through the city. The festival week includes live bands, a children's festival, a festival reception with grand fireworks, a boxing night, and the "Kerwa Rest Day".

One of the Largest Kirchweihen in Middle Franconia
The Neustädter Kirchweih, commonly known as "Neustädter Kerwa", is one of the most traditional and largest Kirchweihen in Middle Franconia. It dates back to the re-consecration of the Evangelical City Church of St. Johannis after the city fire in the Middle Ages – the 2025 edition was already the 469th (!) in the festival's history.
Festival Grounds Under Old Trees
The festival site is "Bei den Sommerkellern", a traditional area with old trees on the edge of the city center. Every year, two festival tents, a Wirtsdorf with serving and dining pavilions, as well as rides, carousels, shooting galleries, and showmen are set up under the trees.
Program Highlights
- Erection of the Kerwafichte on the opening Friday
- Beer Tapping Ceremony by the mayor on Saturday
- Ecumenical Festival Service on the festival grounds on Sunday
- Marksmen's Parade on Monday
- Live Bands in the festival tent – in recent years, including Radspitz
- Children's Festival and family afternoon with reduced prices
- Festival Reception on Wednesday morning and Grand Fireworks Display on Wednesday evening
- Boxing Night in the festival tent
- "Kerwa Rest Day" with a quiet beer garden and Wirtsdorf

Opening Hours
The festival grounds are open daily from 11:30 AM, Sundays from 11:00 AM, and on the opening day from 3:00 PM. This deliberately emphasizes daytime operation with a beer garden flair – the Neustädter Kerwa is not just an evening festival.
