Paulinenaue in Havelland

Paulinenaue is a small municipality in the Havelland district, located about 60 km west of Berlin. With around 1,300 inhabitants, Paulinenaue belongs to the Amt Friesack – an administrative unit that bundles several municipalities in the western Havelland. Paulinenaue is primarily known as the seat of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) and for its research facilities on the Berlin-Hamburg railway line. Those who live here know the rural tranquility and the vastness of the Havelland landscape – and the annual Dorffest (village festival) as the most important date in the summer calendar.

Großer Sportplatz as the Festival Hub

The venue for the village festival is the Großer Sportplatz (large sports ground) on Prof. Hanns-Goldschmidt-Weg – named after the plant breeder and research director in Paulinenaue. Clubs, the fire brigade, and local residents set up their stalls on and around the sports ground. The program follows the classic Brandenburg village festival pattern: stage with live music or DJ, family program with a bouncy castle and face painting, catering managed by local clubs (sausages, steaks, fries, homemade salads, coffee, cake), and a cozy evening finale.

Club Life as the Driving Force

As with most Brandenburg village festivals, the Dorffest Paulinenaue thrives on the voluntary commitment of local clubs – the volunteer fire brigade, sports club, local history society, women's club. These structures are the foundation for the festival's success over the years and its ability to attract new visitors and helpers time and again. The village festival is firmly listed in the official event calendar of the Amt Friesack for May 30, 2026 – as an annual event that is part of the village's identity.

Havelland – Recreation west of Berlin

The Havelland is one of Brandenburg's most scenically diverse regions – characterized by the Havel River, the Rhinkanal canal, and small lakes, with stork villages like Linum and the Westhavelland Nature Park. Paulinenaue is conveniently located on the regional train lines RE2 / RE6 to Berlin and is a typical example of the small municipalities that shape rural Brandenburg.
