Historic Aviation Up Close

Anyone who wants to see historic aircraft not just in a museum but in motion will find the right place at QuaxMeet on the Bienenfarm. The annual meeting, organized by the Quax association and Bienenfarm Airfield, is considered by enthusiasts to be one of the most important events for historic aviation in Germany. From September 11 to 13, 2026 — Friday to Sunday — the small grass airstrip in Havelland will become a showcase of 20th-century aviation history.

The Stars of the Event — What's Flying in 2026

The 2026 lineup promises a wide selection of classic aircraft types. Expected are: the Fouga Magister, a French jet trainer from the 1950s with its distinctive butterfly tail; the Bücker Jungmann, the German biplane trainer from the 1930s that trained generations of pilots; the North American T-6 (also known as Harvard), the American training aircraft of World War II; the Focke Wulf FW44 Stieglitz, an elegant German training biplane; the Boeing Stearman, the iconic American biplane; as well as the Russian Yakovlev Yak-11, the German Dornier Do 27, and the Messerschmitt Me 108. Additionally, a Bücker Bü 180 Student, a Pilatus P-3, and other aircraft are expected.

Program — Three Days Packed with Activities

The event kicks off on Friday at 12 PM (gates open), with the arrival of many pilots and flight operations starting at 11 AM. Saturday and Sunday, the festival opens at 10 AM each day. Highlights include the aerobatic displays — loops, rolls, spins, and formation flying, showcasing the pilots' full skill. Parachutists will complement the aerial program. Want to sit in a historic aircraft yourself? Sightseeing flights are available for booking (prices and availability at the organizer's stand). A vintage car exhibition on the ground adds to the historic atmosphere.

Family Program and Atmosphere

Despite its specialized theme, QuaxMeet is a classic family event. Children under 16 have free admission. A bouncy castle and a small playground for the youngest, a spacious beer garden with food and drinks (bratwurst, grilled platters, vegetarian options), free parking directly at the airfield, and a campfire on the grounds in the evening — the atmosphere is more like a cozy Fly-In than a commercial air show. Those arriving with their own camper or tent can stay overnight in the camping area right by the airfield.

Bienenfarm Airfield — A Hidden Gem in Havelland

Bienenfarm Airfield is a small sports airfield in Havelland near Friesack, about 30 km west of Berlin and 60 km northeast of Brandenburg an der Havel. With its pure grass runway and relaxed atmosphere, it's a hidden tip for hobby pilots — and in September, for three days, a meeting point for the historic aircraft scene. For those who want to explore more of Havelland after QuaxMeet: the nearby Königs Wusterhausen Castle, the Westhavelland Nature Park, and the Rathenow Optics Museum are worthwhile day trip destinations.
