The District Festival of the Klausen Quarter
The Lüttringhauser Klausen Stadtteilfest is one of the most important community-supported district festivals in the north of Remscheid. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Klausen quarter in the Lüttringhausen district will once again open its doors to families, residents, and visitors from the entire Bergisches Land region. Organized by the youth welfare organization Die Schlawiner gGmbH in cooperation with the local family center – a locally anchored format with a clear educational background.
What Makes the Festival Special
Many district festivals are often a watered-down version of a Volksfest (traditional folk festival). Klausen is different: here, active and participatory activities dominate, combined with the spirit of a family center. The program items show this:
- Face Painting Stations – Children's face painting, fantasy looks, often with volunteer makeup artists
- Dance and Theater Attractions – Dance groups, small theater performances, often by children for children
- Goal Wall Shooting – Football classic
- Punch Bag Climbing (Boxen-Klettern) – sporting challenge stations
- Street Football – Mini-tournament, often with ad-hoc teams
- Pony Rides – a highlight for the very young visitors
- Culinary Stands – Clubs, families, and residents bring homemade food (cakes, pizza, crêpes, international snacks)
"Die Schlawiner" and the Family Center
Die Schlawiner gGmbH is a Remscheid-based youth welfare organization that offers extensive services for children, adolescents, and families in the Lüttringhausen district: after-school care, OGS (full-day school care), family counseling, and neighborhood work. The district festival is the annual highlight of the neighborhood work – a day when the neighborhood presents itself and residents meet each other.
Klausen Quarter in Remscheid-Lüttringhausen
Lüttringhausen is a district in the north of Remscheid, with its own historic town center and its own community life. The Klausen Quarter is a residential area within Lüttringhausen, with a mixed resident structure and active neighborhood work. Remscheid itself (around 110,000 inhabitants) is located in the southern Bergisches Land, east of Wuppertal.
Embedded in the Lüttringhausen Festival Calendar
The Klausen District Festival is part of a Lüttringhausen district festival calendar that also includes other events – *Bergische Heimatspiele*, *Bergische Symphoniker Open Air*, *Lüttringhauser Herbst-Bauernmarkt* (Lüttringhausen Autumn Farmers' Market). Lüttringhausen is an independent identity space within Remscheid, where district culture is actively lived.
