Schützen- und Pfingstfest of the Bruderschaft Neuss-Furth from May 22 to 26, 2026
The Volks- und Heimatfest Neuss-Furth is one of the largest marksmen's and district festivals in Neuss. While the city's main marksmen's festival takes place at the end of August (Neusser Bürger-Schützenfest), Furth celebrates its own marksmen's festival every Pentecost weekend – a tradition unbroken since 1932. The organizer is the St.-Sebastianus-Schützenbruderschaft Neuss-Furth 1932 e.V., one of the most active marksmen's brotherhoods in the Rhenish Marksmen's Association.
The 2026 edition runs for five days over the Pentecost weekend: Friday, May 22 to Tuesday, May 26, 2026. In 2026, Whit Sunday falls on May 24. The festival grounds are located at Kaarster Straße / Furtherhofstraße in Neuss-Furth – a district northwest of the Neuss city center.
The official festival opening takes place on Friday, May 22, 2026, around 5 PM by the Lord Mayor of Neuss or his representative – traditionally with a keg tapping on the festival grounds. This is followed by a beer tapping in the tent and a musical opening program.
The funfair runs throughout the entire festival week – organized by the City of Neuss in coordination with the brotherhood. Carousels, dodgems, Ferris wheel, snack stalls, game booths – the usual program of a Rhenish district funfair. The Furth funfair holds a firm place in the family calendar of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district.
The marksmen-specific program takes place mainly on Whit Saturday and Whit Sunday: marksmen's parades through Furth, march-in of the companies in uniform with marching bands, procession through the district. The marksmen's uniforms are green (Jäger), red-white (Grenadiere), and blue (Sappeure).
The highlight is the king's shooting on Whit Tuesday (May 26, 2026): At the brotherhood's shooting range, the marksmen compete for the title of king. The crowning of the new king takes place in the evening in the festival tent – a ceremonial act with king's honor, queen's election, dancing, and a festive banquet.
The brotherhood has its roots in the parish life of Neuss-Furth (Parish of St. Cornelius). With around 200 active members, it is one of the medium-sized brotherhoods in the district and the Rhenish Marksmen's Association. In addition to the Pentecost festival, it also organizes other major church events: St. Martin's Day procession (November 11), St. Nicholas Market in December.
Furth is a district in the northwest of Neuss with around 12,000 inhabitants. Historically shaped by agriculture, the district today has a mixed structure of single-family homes, residential areas, and businesses. The Pentecost festival is the most important annual occasion for the entire Furth community to come together.
The Neuss-Furth 1932 Marksmen's Brotherhood invites you to the 94th edition of the Pentecost Festival. Five days of funfair, marksmen's program, and festival tent in the district.
