Vitra Campus — Open-Air Architecture Museum

The Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein (Lörrach district, directly on the tri-border area of Germany–France–Switzerland) is more than just a company headquarters: it's an open architectural landscape designed by some of the most important architects of our time — Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Herzog & de Meuron, SANAA, Renzo Piano, Álvaro Siza. The Vitra Design Museum, the Vitra Schaudepot, the Conference Pavilion, and the iconic Vitra Fire Station building by Zaha Hadid are just a few of the highlights that draw an annual architectural audience from all over the world to Weil am Rhein.

The Summer Night on the Private Lawn

The Summer Night takes place in a part of the campus not otherwise publicly accessible: the lawn between the Umbrella House (an elegant shell construction by Swiss architect Heinz Isler) and the famous Buckminster Fuller Dome, a geodesic dome by American visionary Richard Buckminster Fuller. This setting transforms a regular summer concert into an experience: you sit on a lawn, a geodesic dome to your left, the hills of the Black Forest and the Alsatian side of the Rhine in the background — and the music floats through the warm summer air.

Jacob Elias and Easy Easy

The 2026 lineup features Swiss indie/songwriter acts with international appeal. Jacob Elias (opening at 7:30 PM) is a Swiss singer-songwriter whose English-language indie songs oscillate between folk and pop — carried, melodic, with a fine voice. Easy Easy (main act at 9:00 PM) is a Swiss indie band whose sound combines relaxed rhythms and atmospheric guitar work — ideal for a mild summer evening under the open sky.

Program and Catering

Admission from 6:30 PM via the north campus entrance. Before and after the performances, you can get refreshments at the catering stands — wine, beer, cocktails, snacks, and hot meals are served until 11:00 PM. Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted in the non-public area. During the event, the public Vitra buildings (VitraHaus, Café, Shop, Design Museum) are open from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM — a great opportunity to see the current exhibition before the concert.

Getting There — Tri-border Area

Weil am Rhein is reachable in 10 minutes by regional train from Basel SBB, from Freiburg in approx. 45 minutes, from Mulhouse (FR) in 25 minutes. From Weil am Rhein station, Tram 8 goes directly to the Vitra Campus (Vitra stop). Due to limited parking capacity, the organizers strongly recommend arriving by public transport or PubliBike (Basel's bike-sharing system). In case of heavy rain or storm conditions, the concert may be cancelled at short notice.
