Large three-day summer festival under the historic railway viaduct from July 3–5, 2026
The Viaduktfest Altenbeken is a three-day major festival held every three years on the grounds beneath the historic Altenbeken Viaduct. Completed in 1853, the railway viaduct is Germany's largest limestone viaduct at 482 m long and 35 m high — and with its 24 arches, it is the defining landmark of the municipality of Altenbeken in the Paderborn district.
A special feature of the 2026 edition: After years in which the festival was relocated to the town center for organizational reasons, it is now returning to its original location under the viaduct. This return is perceived as a highlight in the region — the festival tent atmosphere under the viaduct arches is visually and acoustically unique.
Friday is the ticketed evening of the festival. Admission from 4 p.m. On stage: Cascada (Eurodance star with global hits like 'Everytime We Touch') and The Disco Boys (House DJ duo). Admission: €15 in exclusive pre-sale (November 27, 2025), then €17.90 via Eventim. The first visitors receive 100 liters of free beer. Access from 16 years of age; under 6 not allowed.
On Saturday and Sunday, the festival grounds open free of charge for everyone: children's flea market, awards ceremonies, wine village, family entertainment with a magic show, children's entertainers, and live bands across various styles. Sunday is designed as a family day with an ecumenical church service, children's acts, and traditional music. For the Then family.
Altenbeken is a municipality with just under 9,000 inhabitants in the southeastern Paderborn district. The viaduct is not only a landmark but also a piece of living railway history — trains on the Hamm–Warburg line still run over the arches today. The Viaduktfest has established itself as Altenbeken's cultural identity over decades.
The Viaduktfest 2026 marks the return to the historic festival grounds directly under the railway viaduct — after several editions in the town center. This gives the festival a whole new dimension in terms of visuals and atmosphere.
The ticketed Friday features well-known names from the dance and house scene with Cascada and The Disco Boys. Saturday and Sunday transform the character into a classic folk and family festival with free admission — a well-proven mix.
